McConnell cancels most of Senate's planned four-week August break - Washington Times:
"Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday announced that he’s cancelling most of the Senate’s planned four-week recess in August, saying lawmakers should plan to stay in town to work on nominations and spending bills.
“Due to the historic obstruction by Senate Democrats of the president’s nominees, and the goal of passing appropriations bills prior to the end of the fiscal year, the August recess has been canceled,” Mr. McConnell said in a statement.
The Kentucky Republican pointed to President Trump’s statement in March that he won’t sign another massive “omnibus” spending bill, after the president had threatened to veto the $1.3 trillion bill that funds the government through September."
