Turning Point
By Tammy Derouin
The American flag is a symbol of freedom and at one time, a
symbol of unwavering strength. I truly
hope we are just dealing with a temporary ailment. We ignored some very important signs because
we didn’t want to face reality. Much
like knowing something is internally wrong but putting off going to the doctor
because you don’t want confirmation. For
a time, it’s easier to live in a world of make believe. By not facing reality, you somehow convince
yourself that everything is just fine.
There comes a turning point.
You can no longer ignore the cold, hard evidence. You eventually come to the conclusion that
life is worth the upcoming battle. It’s
better to know the truth so you know how to fight the disease which has
infected your body. You hope it’s not
too late as you begin to ask, why did I wait so long?
Our once healthy, vibrant nation has been infected with a
life-threatening disease. Some noticed
signs right away but wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. After all, the fundamental transformation of
America, in true transparency, is really difficult to comprehend. Some are still coming to the realization that
something is wrong, while others are still stuck in denial.
Probably the most difficult aspect is realizing it was a
self-inflicted disease. We all bear a
certain amount of responsibility. We
didn’t pay attention and assumed those we elected had our best interests in
mind. We voted without asking questions
and allowed the press to be the enabler.
They should have exposed questionable signs but instead they twisted it
into a pretty picture or buried it altogether. We went against our better judgment
when something didn’t make sense. Sometimes the wait-and-see strategy only
makes things worse.
Throughout these years of denial, our nation, as a whole,
made our situation worse. Instead of eradicating
the disease when we had the opportunity, we welcomed it back for several more
years, making our situation worse.
Second chances are rare.
Third chances are even more difficult to acquire. We have to make some
important decisions. Do we value our
freedom, our identity as a nation and our lives? Do we want to reclaim what we
allowed to slip away? Will we demand
that wrongs are corrected or will we fall deeper into enslavement?
I’m encouraged to hear some of the contenders, who want to
get our country back on track, are speaking the truth and not bowing to political
correctness. The press, whose paycheck
must be coming directly from George Soros, tears into those who state the
facts. Their foot soldiers are called in
to mock and belittle. The left
continuously attempts to paint those who refuse to bow to their will as racist
or any other demeaning name. It’s a
scare tactic, an attempt to stop people from telling the truth.
I get really tired of watching people being herded. It has become so much easier to blindly
follow. People believe the press, the
unions and so many other organizations without checking the facts for
themselves.
I recently watched several old clips of the late, the courageous
Andrew Breitbart. He confronted his
attackers and those who protested pro-American events. Protesting is the right of every American
citizen. What was extremely disappointing
was the protesters didn’t know why they were protesting. They had been herded like sheep onto buses,
given signs and were told what to do. They
had no idea what was taking place inside arenas they were told to protest. The people inside were rallying to promote
and continue the fight to preserve freedom so uninformed individuals could
protest events, despite ignorance of the event.
I don’t understand how people can demonstrate and hate
something or someone without knowing the facts.
Eventually, the protesters were told to move away and to not engage in
conversation. They were herded back to tow
the party line. I wonder, if they really understood what their party promoted
and didn’t just blindly follow, would they allow themselves to be sheep?
There was a time when defending our rights, our Constitution,
was the American way. We took pride in
our freedoms and wanted to protect them at any cost. We shouldn’t be afraid of the truth. It will be what saves us. By living in a world of make believe, you
convince yourself that everything is just fine.
As the cold, hard reality becomes more and more evident, will you take
notice? Will you begin to ask, why did I
wait so long?
“Barack Obama is
a radical. We should not be afraid to
say that.”
Andrew Breitbart
