Destroy and Distract
By Tammy Derouin
I stumbled across some papers which reminded me of a
conversation I had with my daughter over a year ago. We were talking more like friends rather than
mother and daughter. The topics changed quickly
as we talked and laughed. Without
warning she threw me a curve ball. I
froze and the ball landed right between my eyes. She didn’t understand my reaction. To her, what she stated wasn’t a curve ball,
it was obvious. I asked her to repeat
her words. She confidently said, “It’s
obvious.” She noticed something good and
she was right.
We all have “a-ha” moments.
This was one of many for me.
Young children haven’t activated their filter. The honesty flies out of them. I think most parents would agree, it’s
refreshing and terrifying. Kids tell it
like they see it.
I also came across papers from a different time and
situation. As I read the words from the
past, I found myself saying it was so
obvious. Sometimes it’s difficult to see
what’s right in front of you. You see or
feel something but are afraid to accept the truth. The unknown can be scary so we find reasons
to retreat or just plain deny.
The truth can be a difficult pill to swallow. If you can’t handle the truth you ignore it
but it doesn’t go away. It will wait for
you. You wonder if others suspect the
same thing but you’re afraid to ask. You
begin to question yourself, your logic and everything you have always known to
be true.
An “a-ha” moment can come at any time and usually without
warning. But, more importantly, now that
you know, what are you going to do? Will
you accept it and do what needs to be done or will you continue to deny? Denial
only prolongs the inevitable. Endless denial will generate regret and sorrow.
If you think everything is fantastic and the United States
is doing just fine, you haven’t been paying attention. I don’t know how many more scandals it’s
going to take before more people notice that something is terribly wrong. I don’t know how much more corruption or lies we
can withstand as a nation.
If you have yet to experience the “a-ha” moment, I wonder what more must happen. When will the reality of the fundamental transformation of America hit you between the eyes? Yes, he actually meant a complete change in our way of life! When you realize what is taking place, it’s as overwhelming as the world of technology. What do you do, dismiss it and pretend it doesn’t exist or learn as much as you can?
In yet another scandalous act, the administration released five dangerous terrorists for one soldier who appears to have had questionable motives and loyalties. The distraction is to claim that no one gets left behind. This is a perfect example of the hypocrisy of this administration. Why did this same administration refuse to act when four Americans were left in Benghazi? What difference does it make? Once again the executive acted without Congress. This time he came to the aid of known terrorists. That’s an act of treason. Should it make a difference?
The scandals continue. The economy weakens under the stress of this administration. Our borders are defenseless and open for invasion. Our military is no longer regarded as powerful. Citizens who ask question and want answers have become targets. The executive continually side steps Congress and grabs power at every turn. Our allies are ignored and dismissed while our enemies have access to the White House. Guns and ammunition are almost impossible for law abiding citizens to obtain, yet the administration gives them to our enemies. Religion is no longer tolerated, unless you’re Islamic. Theory is delivered as fact to gain more control. Free speech is disappearing and the once free press is now enslaved. The pen and the telephone have replaced our Constitution.
Do you see the willful destruction of the United States? Isn’t it obvious?
“In our Orwellian post-9/11 world, Congress thinks it can alter basic constitutional principles, and the president thinks he can enforce only the laws he likes. Did we break away from a king, who thought his powers were given to him by God, 240 years ago only to elect a president who behaves like a king?”
Judge Andrew P. Napolitano
