‘Twas the Night Before Halloween
By Tammy Derouin
Although I was angry, I can’t say I was not surprised. I heard the news regarding the decision by
the Department of Party Favor Justice, that it was ending its investigation
into the IRS Targeting Scandal. No
charges would be brought against Lois Lerner or anyone else for that matter.
Why should charges be brought against anyone? There was absolutely no evidence of any
wrongdoing. I mean, we are talking about
the most transparent administration in the history of the world! What do we really have as proof? Evidence was destroyed and lies, when told
often enough, become the truth. And
never mind the fact that a corrupt administration just investigated itself.
When this little bit of unsurprising, yet blood boiling news
came out, I was a little busy drying the eyes of my girls. After all, they had just told me about their
upcoming Socialist Halloween. The Civics
lesson continues.
As Halloween approached and they knew they would be going
away, the excitement diminished. I
thought everyone was supposed to be happy when you spread the wealth around or in
this case, candy. The answer is no and
the youngest, most inexperienced at life around us, know it and get it.
To gain control, be it in government or in our individual
worlds, the tactics are the same. Tell
me if this sounds familiar. When defending
the belief that you do not wish to be robbed of that which is rightfully yours,
you are scolded for being selfish. You
are lectured that you should want to contribute all of your earnings to the
community bowl. Everyone should be entitled
to your earnings, even if they did nothing to earn it. You are mocked; belittled and nudged down an
uncomfortable road.
‘Twas the night before Halloween, when all through the house,
two little creatures were stirring about.
It wasn’t the excitement of candy and fun, which kept them up wondering
of what was to come. It wasn’t the
costumes or friends they might see. It
wasn’t the trading of candy, you see. No,
instead it was sadness, unfairness and fright.
Children, they know, when something doesn’t sound right.
They really wanted to go Trick or Treating but the thought
of dumping all of their candy into a community bowl made them ask themselves
some very good questions. Why should I
go and do all the work if someone else is going to take it away from me? Why should I do the work if I’m only going to
get what someone else thinks I should have instead of what I collected? Instead of looking forward to going Trick or
Treating, I was given reasons why they didn’t want to go.
They thought they might feel guilty if they didn’t go. Who would get the candy for those who couldn’t
get it themselves? Never mind the fact
that those who couldn’t get it were not entitled to it in any way, shape or
form. Even the bag they wanted to take
shrunk in size. Why spend the allotted time
collecting the goods if it was going to be taken away? Why do my best when only a little will do?
As planned, individual pumpkin heads, filled with prized
candy, were waiting for them upon their return.
An unexpected event taught them the difference between capitalism and
socialism. Capitalism won, hands down. They were happy to keep what was rightfully
theirs. They decide if they want to trade their candy or give it away.
But as I listened to their concerns, I couldn’t help
thinking about the warning we received from the future destroyer of school
lunches. Of course, this took place while she was on the campaign trail for the
future dictator. We were warned. We just didn’t know we were being warned
because we were still under the assumption that an American president would
want to preserve and protect the United States of America. Do you remember those days? We were so naive.
Michelle Obama said, “Barack knows that we are going to have
to make sacrifices; we are going to have to change our conversation; we’re
going to have to change our traditions, our history; we’re going to have to
move into a different place as a nation.”
Progressives have nudged the American people by way of guilt
to make unnecessary sacrifices and changes in our conversations. They are changing our traditions, our history
and we are most certainly moving into a different place as a nation.
Those who do not agree become the target of the IRS. Oh wait, no they don’t, the IRS doesn’t do
anything wrong, just ask them.
“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance,
and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”
