"Kitzhaber is in his fourth term as governor and has, until recently, served as a popular governor in the Democrat-controlled state. However, he has come under fire for apparent cronyism as his fiancée, Cylvia Hayes, has earned substantial income from companies that have benefited greatly from her influence with the governor.Ms. Hayes serves as the official First Lady of Oregon and also serves as an unpaid adviser in her fiancé’s administration.
Last year, Hayes came under fire after she was forced to admit that she earned $5,000 from agreeing to a “greencard marriage” after she married an Ethiopian man in 1997 so that he could stay in the country and she could earn money."
