The Sky Is Green
By Tammy Derouin
There has been a widely accepted method of dealing with
sickness and disease throughout history; isolate and quarantine. These basic steps work so well, we use them
to help prevent the spread of the common cold.
If not followed, you may be able to trace your new found misery back to
a possible starting point. Perhaps
someone you work or associate with has made it their mission to cough up a lung.
Even the puppet press reminds us during
cold and flu season to stay home if we’re not feeling well.
Thanks to lax policies and open borders, we are dealing with
much larger threats. But, what if we
were dealing with a large scale outbreak of the common cold? Would we abandon the common sense do’s and
don’ts to prevent infecting others? Would
it make sense to consider such basic measures for Ebola?
What if a school, outside of your district, had a very large
outbreak of the common cold? Students
who attend the affected school are still allowed to enter your school and
participate in daily activities with your child. The administration claims that the children
have a greater risk of contracting the illness if the exposed school children
were prevented from entering your school.
You are then informed that your school administration will not prohibit
vehicles from the infected school, from entering your school property. Apparently, it could somehow hinder the
transportation of medical personnel and supplies to the infected school.
Now, just to make this even more ridiculous, let’s say it
has been discovered that the barrier, which once surrounded your school, has
been allowed to deteriorate. Anyone, from
an innocent child, to members of a rival school who want to steal your mascot
and vandalize the property, has unobstructed access to your school. The
administration doesn’t enforce visitor registration at the main office. Illegal intruders are also immediately
eligible for free school lunch and other benefits, no ID required, not even to
vote, but I digress.
The school security guards want to secure the
perimeter. Every time they make an
attempt to secure it, the administrator threatens them with a lawsuit. Eventually, the security guards are sent out
of the district, to the school with the infectious outbreak. The perimeter remains
unprotected; illness, school rivals and predators of every type have open
access.
The administrator assures everyone that everything is under
control. He did say there was little
chance of the illness reaching our school.
Oops, bad example. But he also
said it was difficult to contract. Just
to be clear, it will never be his fault if you become ill. The administration has already put defensive
measures into place; the proper procedures weren’t followed. The administrator and his staff continually
refuse to protect the children. Didn’t
he take an oath to do just that prior to taking office? He not only gets away with continually
putting the children at risk, he manages to blame the parents and those who ran
the school before him for the problems of the school and community. See how great sandbox political correctness
works? It redistributes misery equally
among all school districts.
An attempt is made to calm the parents and the community by
sending a video message, but not to your school but rather to the out of
district school. Unfortunately, some of
his advice contradicts advice given by the school nurse. The administrator creates a new medical
position; the Common Cold Authority.
Outbreaks will be tracked and appropriate measures will be taken to
insure the health and wellbeing of the children and community. He appoints the maintenance superintendent
because…because the sky is green. The
newly appointed medical/maintenance advisor fails to appear at the first two
meeting.
How do you think parents and the surrounding community would
respond to an administration turning common sense upside down? How would blatant disregard for the safety
and wellbeing of the children and surrounding community go over? There would be outrage. I’m guessing everyone including the school
board, superintendent, school principal and anyone else involved in such
reckless behavior would be fired immediately.
I’m tired of being stunned by this administration. Every day brings unbelievable actions or lack
thereof to the surface. Because of our
history in accepting the lies of this administration, we have given them the
confidence to move forward with another type of deceit. We are now being told the sky is green and
the grass is blue, and we’re expected to believe it. I didn’t want to believe that Americans would
actually accept the transformation of fact to fiction. What’s next, 2+2 = 5?
“If we isolate these countries, what’s not going to happen
is the disease staying there. It will
spread more, all over Africa and we’ll be at higher risk.”
