Gary Peters of Michigan — the ranking member and chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, respectively — plan to conduct a probe into the national security risks pertaining to "high-risk biological research and technology in the U.S. and abroad," according to a press release, which indicates that the oversight effort will involve investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.
