Defenders of
Freedom
By Tammy Derouin
While going
through article after article of mind blowing facts regarding the litany of
reasons Mrs. Clinton shouldn’t even be running for the highest office of our
land, let alone possibly winning, I was treated to a little comic relief.
A cartoon was on television and the volume was just high enough that it
took my attention away from our dire reality, or so I thought.
I was sucked into
one of the more humorous and easy to sit through cartoons of the day.
Having been raised with Loony Tunes, I'm not happy with how so many cartoons,
children's programs or programs in general have taken such a downward turn. So many programs have become anti-family,
anti-parent or sinister and downright distasteful. But, that's a whole
different subject.
As I shifted from
half listening to full blown watching, fiction became reality. The
classic story of good versus evil played out on the small screen. Get this;
the good guys are truly the good guys! They actually fought for what was
right while protecting and defending their home territory! They didn't
lie, deceive or betray the homeland in an effort to help the enemy.
In this one
dimensional world of cartoon make believe, the bad guys are the bad guys. They
state their intentions and attempt to enforce their evil plan. They leave
no room for misunderstanding. Their mission is to concur. They are identified as evil and all efforts
are made to eliminate them. Pampering
and cuddling the enemy are unacceptable and so is making excuses for their
behavior.
This will blow
your mind. Are you ready? When
confronted by the forces of evil, the defenders of freedom do not applaud and
cheer away their freedom! Evil is recognized, targeted and destroyed. This kind of logical thinking and action takes place to defeat evil in
the world of make believe but we, as a whole, refuse to see the same logic in
real life.
I continued to
watch. This particular cartoon takes the humorous approach to making the
obvious point. In this episode, when good and evil meet face to face, the
message becomes perfectly clear. The evil scientist, upset that he has a
fight on his hands, asks why they don't just let him concur, pillage, blunder
and enslave the people of their home land. The answer is clear and to the
point. The defenders of freedom respond by asking why. Why on earth would
they allow this individual to carry out acts that would bring about their own demise?
What a brilliant
concept! Fighting for freedom and
defending one’s home from evil invaders, what a great idea! Of course, I
couldn’t let the moment go by without pointing out how the opposite is true in
real life. What a tragedy that the people, citizens of the freest and greatest
country in the world, cannot see that they are applauding and cheering for
their own demise.
Eventually, I had
to go back to the real world, a world which makes less sense than a
cartoon. It’s pretty sad when logic
exists in fairy tales but is pretty much nonexistent in real life. We’ve
traveled many miles over the past eight years, all in full reverse. The guiding rule to measure all decisions by
the current administration, executive or otherwise, is scandalous in its own
right. If it goes against our American tradition, values, morals and common
sense, do it. Do whatever it takes to
end the American way of life. The masses
applauded, cheered and begged for more.
We are getting
closer and closer to the next round of disasters. The choice that Americans will have to make,
for the next president, is proof of how badly we, as a nation, have
deteriorated. We have allowed corruption
and evil to penetrate into every branch, every office at every level in our
government. We have turned a blind eye
and no longer seem to care about the list of criminal deeds and actions of
those who wish to wear the crown.
We continue to
create a kingdom or an empire suited more for a dictator, who answers to no
one, in place of a president who was once accountable to the people. As more and more warning signs are ignored,
we enter the self-destruct mode.
“The liberties of
the people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their
rulers may be concealed from them.”
Patrick Henry
