Safety and Security

By Tammy Derouin

The current executive used his bully pulpit to grandstand on his desire to remove more guns from our society following a heart-wrenching tragedy.  Of course, he continues to use the fail-safe argument that it’s for our protection, our safety.  Safety and security are the words which will destroy our rights and will end our freedom.

Obama stated, “But let’s be clear: At some point, we as a country will have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries. It doesn’t happen in other places with this kind of frequency. And it is in our power to do something about it.”  I guess he isn’t familiar with the facts or ISIS and their cruel and oppressive ways.

His partner in these devastating, anti-freedom, anti-American blows to the United States, Hillary Clinton, is also grandstanding.  The students of radical mentors have learned well.  Never let an opportunity go to waste. She is determined to continue to transform our nation into something it was never meant to be, a powerful centralized government.

Her question this past week was absurd.  Hillary Clinton asked, "How is it that we as a nation still allow guns to fall into the hands of people whose hearts are filled with hate?"  Well, that’s about as stupid as asking, how do drugs get into the hands of drug addicts, why do criminals break laws, and WHY do anti-American politicians continually get elected into office?

The answer is simple and no law is going to change it.  If an individual wants something bad enough, they will do everything in their power to get it.  Go-getter kind of attributes are good qualities to have, when guided with morals and no hidden agenda.  When the goal is to cause harm to one’s self, others, or when there is an agenda which has consumed an individual or party, no law or moral code of conduct will stand in their way.

There are risks you take when you live in a free society.  Do the risks outweigh the freedoms?
Do you want to live free or do you want to live in a controlled environment where everything is provided for you?  Do you want the government to house, feed, transport you, tell you who you may or may not associate with, control what you watch and read, watch every move you make and decides what you will do and when you will do it?  That's called a prison!

Prison is the best way to control people.  We all know how perfectly safe you are in prison.  The guards (the elite) of the prison are they only ones with guns. They are there to enforce the rules.  Of course, you didn’t vote on the rules, you weren’t consulted because you are no longer free to live as you chose.  But, you have armed guards to protect you.  You’ve got it made! Everyone is perfectly safe in prison, right?

America, we have to decide, are we going to continue to give up our rights for the false safety of a maximum security prison?  They are really trying to pretty it up so they can sell it to us.  Your safety and security is never a guarantee.  They decorate and use smoke and mirrors to hide the fact that you are willingly giving up your ability to think and make decisions for yourself.  You are giving up your rights and freedoms for this false sense of security.

I’ve heard anti-gun advocates compare the United States to developed countries who have very strict gun laws. European countries have been the examples but are no longer the only examples they are using. Now they are using countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia, China and India!  Do any of any of these countries conjure up thoughts of personal freedoms and liberties?

Europe will lose this fight.  They will lose their identity if they continue down this path of political correctness and appeasing their enemies.  They need to find and grab hold of their borders and stand up for themselves.

When the PC anti-gun advocates try to tell me that our standards are lower than the above mentioned countries, I realize how little they understand freedom.  Once again, we are exceptional because we are free.

Do they truly feel that the people in Russia, China, India, Afghanistan and Pakistan are better off?  Maybe they should go on a little road trip.  Let’s call it a traveling history lesson. Find the travel brochures!  They will not realize how good life is, in the United States of America, until reality hits them, cuffs them, or kills them for not following the ruling party line.

“If you want total security, go to prison.  There you’re fed, clothed, given medical care and so on.  The only thing lacking…is freedom.”

Dwight D. Eisenhower
