Have You Had Enough?

I read the book, “The Snow Angel” several years ago.  It asked a question, which has stuck with me over the years.  Have you had enough?  The book dealt with coming to the realization that all wasn’t well in your life.  By the time I came across this book, I had already answered the question for myself.  Yes, I had had enough and it was time to regain control.

Control is a word which carries both positive and negative meanings.  We want to believe we are in control of our life, despite mounds of evidence weighing us down.  The thing about control is that you don’t realize how much of it you have lost until you have lost it all. Once it’s gone, you begin to retrace your steps in an attempt to discover the extent of the damage and how it will affect your future.  Are you going to ignore reality or are you going to do everything you can to right the situation?

It’s human nature to want to be in control.  It’s also human nature to want to have as much control as possible.  We can look at our individual history and our world history for definitive examples.

There are two very different ways of achieving the goal of ultimate power and control.  The first is violent.  There is a sweeping and very noticeable change.  You may be taken by surprise but there are usually very good indicators of the coming clamp down.  Brute force, imprisonment, torture and in many cases death are the tools of choice to gain control of an individual, society or nation.

A second method of gaining ultimate power and control is by making carefully planned strategic moves.  Planting seeds for a desired outcome, which are nurtured and cared for by the future dominant being.  A false sense of concern for an individual, society or nation is created.  You are coaxed to relinquish control because others know best.  Needs are predetermined and rationed based on their expertise. You become dependent upon your future executioner who is more than willing to administer the final blow. 

It takes much more time and patience to achieve control through this method but once control is gained, the outcome is still the same.  Brute force, imprisonment, torture and death for those who refuse to comply.  History is full of examples. 

In the first method you see the wolf, as he truly is, from the very beginning.  In the second method, the wolf disguises himself as a lovable, dear old granny who rationalizes all his misdeeds so that he is better able to see, hear and devour you.  But, make no mistake, devour you, he will.  The blinders are optional.  The outcome is still the same.

History has many examples of individuals taking power, seizing the moment, the opportunity, which in many cases the power hungry have created for their own benefit.  The anti-establishment, anti-government radicals of yesterday are today’s establishment and government.  Those who said you couldn’t trust the government or the older generation are now the government and the older generation.  They caused chaos in their youth, rising against authority and now they use their authority to cause chaos. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.  Aren’t you getting tired of the whole, don’t do as I do, do as I say rhetoric?

Our country, its history, traditions and our way of life are being transformed right before our eyes.  There are two very different ways of dealing with such an outrageous situation.  If the blinders are off, you see reality and want to right the wrong.  You know there will be sacrifices but in the end, your freedom and independence are most important to you and to those you love.  The sacrifices you make today will be beneficial to you and your future.

If the blinders are securely in place, reality is fantasy.  History, which serves as a crystal ball for the coming inevitability, is dismissed.    A sense of entitlement grows among the people.  Much like the water in the pot, it will slowly boil.  By the time you get beyond the comfy feeling of a hot tub, which was graciously provided by your captor, your goose is cooked.

When will this nation, as a whole, realize that we are being played?  The powers that be do not care about the people of this nation.  All they want is power and control.  This past week has revealed more scandalous behavior.  Once again, we will be asked to look the other way and vote their party back into power.

Have you had enough?  Are you tired of your intelligence constantly being insulted?
