Whitmer proposes levying corporate income tax on 150,000 S-corps, LLCs:

"Increasing taxes will certainly not be positive or helpful to the Michigan business environment, or to valuations of businesses in Michigan, or to the prospects of attracting investment in Michigan, which already wasn't near the top of anyone's favorites list," Roesler told Crain's in an email. "Increasing taxes on small businesses in particular will reduce available jobs, will reduce the monies available to increase wages, will reduce reinvestment in physical plant and assets (growth), and overall hinders business expansion."
