Every year comes to an end with the hope that the next year will be better.  It’s a hope which comes directly from the last celebration of the year, Christmas, the birth of Christ.  It saddens me to see how our country has moved away from the true meaning of Christmas, especially in our more recent history

With the exception of some very uplifting books, the Old Testament of the Bible is very difficult to get through.  It can be very dark and brutal. Turning every page brought hope that the next chapter or book would be easier to read and to get through.  Patience led to a better understanding of the events, the history, which took place that would lead to man’s first journey out of darkness, along with a much easier path as chronicled in the New Testament.    

Much like modern day history, it is necessary to understand the past so that we understand why actions and events took place.  History is our guide.  We must learn from the past so that we do not repeat the mistakes of those who came before us.  If we do not understand history, we will not understand the whole picture.  This is why it is very dangerous to hide our true history. Those who wish to control, hide the truth and manufacture a new reality to disguise their true intentions. 

Without Christmas, we wouldn’t have our many other celebrated holidays.  Without the birth of Christ, we wouldn’t have Easter and the salvation which is promised to believers.  Without the hope and blessings that Christmas brings, we would still be living in darkness.  The enslavement which man has forced upon man throughout the ages would have continued into our present day western world.  

Enslavement wasn’t indicative of one race or people.  The Bible records enslavement, especially for the Israelites. Slavery was a way of life.  Throughout the ages, just being on the losing side of waring nations would be enough to enslave a people. The western explorers, colonist and settlers did not start the slave trade but, as the United States of America, we ended it in our region of the world.  That should be celebrated.  We, as a people, cannot be held responsible for the actions of those who came before us.  What is important is how we tried and eventually succeeded in correcting a wrong.

Christmas would eventually bring the hope which would lead to the drafting of the Magna Carta.  This was a revolutionary idea in the continuum of man’s enslavement to man; men were capable of controlling their own destiny and plotting their own course.  What an independent way of thinking.  The ruling powers with their chains and bondage were put on notice.  This revolutionary idea would, in many ways, help inspire a future revolution.  The Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution are the result of events which took place hundreds and even thousands of years before their signing and implementation.  The Star of David was just the beginning, but it would forever light the path to the journey out of darkness for those who believed and had faith.

In time, a free and independent nation would rise out of the darkness.  The United States became the beacon of hope and the living example that man was capable of living independently and free of bondage to a crown or to the state.  Our foundation as a nation rose out of Judo/Christian beliefs. Our eternal friend, Israel, has a long history of enduring, battling and breaking free of bondage.  With so much of our present day freedoms based on our Judo/Christian heritage, we should never forget the importance of Israel.  We are a Christian nation, despite propaganda to the contrary. 

Our future will be determined by how well we have learned from our past.  Our path is dependent upon our actions.  Do we continue heading down the path of promise and hope or do we descend back into darkness?  Once again, Israel is battling for survival. The enemy has encircled the nation. As the world conspires to move against Israel, we must offer support and defensive measures.  Our past, our present, and our future are dependent upon our bond.  We, as a nation, cannot turn our back on Israel.  

The Star of David rose out of darkness and paved a way for our freedom and the creation of the United States which would become a beacon of hope around the world.  Without the birth of Christ, our bondage and enslavement would have continued.
