U.S. equity markets surged on Thursday with the Dow Jones Industrial Average exiting bear market territory as optimism grows that the economy will regain its footing despite the coronavirus crisis.
The Dow gained 1,351 points or over 6.4 percent. The S&P 500 also rose 6.3 percent and the Nasdaq Composite over 5.6 percent.

San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore for now will not force gun stores in county jurisdiction to close, he said Tuesday.
Calling their service valuable, Gore asked stores to follow social distancing rules and find alternative ways to sell guns and ammunition, such as online or by appointment. The key, he said, is to restrict clusters of customers at storefronts.

Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham on Wednesday held a press conference with a group of Republican Senators to call for an immediate fix to a “life-threatening drafting error” in the coronavirus package.
Graham was joined by South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse, and Florida Sen. Rick Scott at the press conference to discuss the coronavirus emergency legislation. The presser was first announced in a tweet by Graham, saying they “will discuss a massive drafting error in the current version of the coronavirus relief legislation that could have devastating consequences.”
